Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
More and more people seem to be becoming more sensitive to various indoor air
contaminants each year. Couple that with the fact that mold, bacteria and other indoor air contaminants effect each individual differently, you want a consultant that is knowledgeable and able to see all aspects of the indoor air quality puzzle.
Our Indoor Air Quality Services consist of the following:
- Fungi investigations focusing on cause and recommendations to correct the fungi issues,
- Bacteria investigations focusing on cause and recommendations to correct the bacteria issues,
- Collecting air (spore trap, vacuum or Andersen), tape lift, bulk, wipe or swab samples for bacteria or mold analysis,
- Moisture testing of building materials,
- Preparation of fungi and bacteria abatement specifications,
- Fungi and bacteria contract administration,
- Fungi and bacteria abatement contractor oversight,
- Fungi and bacteria abatement air monitoring,
- Addressing hot topic issues such as bed bugs, "Sick Building Syndrome", "toxic mold" and anthrax,
- Assistance with preparation of building maintenance schedules,
- Short-term and long-term radon testing and

- Ozone, formaldehyde, respirable particles, temperature, humidity, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide testing.
Only the state of Texas has developed and implemented actual mold regulations, however there are numerous guidance documents which have been developed on both the federal and state level to assist in dealing with mold and the other typical indoor air contaminants. We have reviewed many of these documents, which allows us to meet industry standards when conducting our various indoor air quality (IAQ) services. The following are the regulations, guidance documents and websites that we have found to be most useful.
- Texas Mold Assessment and Remediation Rules
- U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration "A Brief Guide to Mold in the Workplace"
- EPA "Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial Buildings"
- EPA "A Brief Guide to Mold, Moisture and Your Home"
- New York City Department of Health "Guidelines on Assessment and Remediation of Fungi in Indoor Environments"
- EPA "Home Buyer's and Seller's Guide to Radon"
- EPA "A Citizen's Guide to Radon"
- EPA "Protocols for Radon and Radon Decay Product Measurements in Homes"
- EPA "Radon Mitigation Standards"
- EPA "Consumer's Guide to Radon Reduction"
- EPA "Indoor Air Quality Building Education and Assessment Model (I-BEAM)
- EPA "An Introduction to Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)" and the additional links on that web page
